The Kano State government today, approve the dethronement of Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
The dethronement of the Emir was announced after the State Council executive meeting presided over by the Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
In a press statement signed by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, The Emir was in total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the State Governor and other lawful Authorities, including his persistent refusal to attend official meetings and programs organized by the government without lawful justification which amount to insubordination.
He said “the removal is made after due consultations with the relevant stakeholders and in compliance with the part 3 section 13 of the Kano State Emirate law 2019 which if left unchecked will destroy the good and established image of the Kano Emirate.
Emir Senusi Muhammed II is the first Emir to be dethroned as the Emir of Kano since it became an Emirate in 1805.
