Police calls for tougher legislations against kidnapping

Since the launch of operation Puffer Adder on the 5th April 2019, the Nigeria police force in the spirit of transparency and accountability have continued to put more effort with the use of new strategies which are targeted at identifying, locating, and dismantling kidnapping gangs.

Speaking at the parade centre today, the police force PRO Frank Mba called for tougher legislations against kidnapping and banditry both at the national and state level.

In same spirit of protecting lifes and property which is the major mandate of the Nigeria Police Force, the police operatives from operation puff Adder have arrested 40 male suspect for various criminal activities.
It will please you to know that 13 of these suspects are directly linked with the kidnap of Alhaji Musa Umar the magaji gari of daura who was kindnapped on the 1st may 2019.

According to Mba, ” we discovered that the following suspects are from different state of the federation within an age bracket and the youngest among them is 20 years of age, who is one the leader of the team Yusuf Dahiru from kano sate.
They also have external collaboration from Niger Republic who is represented in the person of Mustapha Zakari.
Interestingly the crime was powered by local criminal, 5 of the suspects are from katsina state, 4 from daura and 2 from kano”.

Items recovered 9Ak 47, 383 live ammunitions, explosives chemicals and a laptop containing visuals of how to produce explosive.

The police force PRO also seized the opportunity to encourage the activities of the community policing.
Mba said that the IGP Adamu Abubakar is pursuing the full implementation of community policing, he also advised Nigerians to be mindful of the people around them and also report any suspected move to the police.

The Frank promised that the force under the leadership of IGP Adamu will continue to work with other relevant stakeholders in the task of making Nigeria safer and better place to be.
