Kogi lawmaker promises to use IT to tackle unemployment in the constituency

The newly inaugurated kogi state House of Assembly member representing Ijumu constituency  Hon. Kilani Olusola Uluomo has promised to use IT infrastructures to drive the economy of his people.


The lawmaker gave the hint in Lokoja during the inauguration ceremony of the 7th Assembly of the state House of Assembly.
Oluoma decried the level of youths unemployment in his constituency which is fueled by lack of capacity to compete in a knowledge based society saying that he will  bring his background in Information technology to enhance the wellbeing of youth and women for the development of Ijumuland and the state in general.


He added that the  major companies of the world used internet resources to grow wealth stressing that he has built a computer training centre which he  stocked  with many computers for the  training of the youths  thereby removing them  from the shackles of ignorance and unemployment.


Uluomo who had  his first degree and Masters degree in Computer science ,  a Doctoral student in Computer science and a  country Representatives of HP computers in Nigeria said he  will dedicate his time and resources for the growth of Ijumu, Okunland and kogi state.


He lamented at the rate of usage of smart phones in the country without value addition to their   economic wellbeing saying that his computer centre would open  up Windows of  opportunities for the youths by giving them wherewithal to maximize the internet infrastructures for development. He noted that he will set up a NEEDS  assessment team that shall unravel what is available and lacking across the constituency which he will forward to the House  in the form of a bill or motion for the relevant Agencies  for action.


While commending women for their roles in his election , said they occupied priority in his legislative  agenda. He bemoaned the way youths  are  using phones only  to make calls, Facebook  and what apps  messages for social relationship without being creative to derive economic benefits that could be tapped by the full knowledge of information technology.


He called on the stakeholders  across Ijumu land to bridge their differences and to work as a team to wrestle the land from poverty and underdevelopment.


He  advised the political gladiators to close ranks to shun premordial  sentiment to see to the wellbeing of the people adding that he will explore all avenues to reconcile all the  warring factions.


”  We are going to engage all the elders and opinion moulders. We have them in PDP , APC and ADC. We will try as much as possible  to avoid partisanship.  We are going to engage Senator Dino Melaye and many others for useful discussions. We will see how to work together.The overriding goal is to make Ijumu great.


” It is not about self interest and when we remove sentiments we will be able to achieve unity among Ijumu people. We are going to talk, dialogue and look for a common cause to heal the wounds among our people and that is how to kickstart development.” He assured.
