Tragedy was averted this afternoon after a tanker fully laden with petroleum products fell at the Oke-Afa Isolo area of Lagos State.
The cause of the accident could be traced to bad road as the spot of the accident was totally dilapidated. According to an eye witness who spoke to our correspondent in pidgin, he said “The road dey bad well well the pot hole too much na em cause am” he urged the Lagos state government to come to their aid and fix the road to avoid reoccurrence.
At the scene were officials from the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA), the response unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), The Federal Fire Service and the police.
The accident, which led to a heavy traffic gridlock, locked down the roads leading to Jakande Estate, Ikotun, Ejigbo and its environs.
The accident also blocked the entrance of the INRI prosperity estate which hosts the INRI Evangelical Spiritual church.
To ameliorate the situation, a diversion was later charted for motorists to ply the Canoe and Ajao Estate route.
