ATABOR JULIUS, LOKOJA.
A group, under the aegis of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello Consolidation Movement ( GYABCM) has tasked the State Government and the Judiciary to commence the process of settling their face off for the peace and progress of the state.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Alhaji Ibrahim Raji and Secretary General Comrade Onusi Abdullateef and made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Monday, the group advised both parties to come together in the interest of the suffering workers of Judiciary who have not collected their salaries and pensions for upward of nine months.
The group admitted that the statement credited to the governor that the accumulated salaries of the Judiciary workers are intact , has brought joy to the workers, even as they solicited for speedy resolution of the crisis.
While thanking the state government and the leadership of the judiciary for the maturity displayed so far, the group however advised that there should exhibit the spirit of give and take in the true sense of collective bargaining.
The GYABCM commended the unrelenting efforts of the Chief of Staff to the state government, Edward Onoja and the state accountant general, Alhaji Jibril Momoh and other stakeholders for their efforts in resolving the crisis.
They however hinted that the lingering impasse is capable of undermining the gains recorded so far by the administration in the areas of security of lives and property, comprehensive healthcare service and all other infrastructural development going on across the state.
” The governor as the father of the state must be willing to make some sacrifices, while the leadership of the judiciary must also be ready to make some concessions.
“We equally call on all elders, traditional rulers and opinion leaders from Kogi State to wade into the matter by prevailing on the two sides to shift ground.
“As we all know that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of rancour and discordant tones” The group advised.
The group maintained that they will continue to take steps to ensure that the problem is urgently brought to a peaceful end and timely as there would be no victor or vanquish.
