Governor Bello affirms revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company as top priority

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has affirmed that the
revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company remained top priority to the
Federal and State Government.

He made this remark on Sunday in Idah, at the Civic Center within
the palace premises of the Attah of Igala, HRH Dr. Micheal Ameh
Oboni Ii, while receiving the Vice President Professor Yemi
Osinbajo who was on a scheduled visit to the region.

The Governor thanked God for the safety of the Vice President and
his entourage after their helicopter crashed landed in Kabba, while
he prayed against the occurrence of such.
He stated that government at both levels were committed to
ensuring that the company begins production for local and export
purposes and further boast job availability for youths.
The State Governor thanked the Buhari led administration for it’s
various programmes which he affirmed that the State has hugely
benefitted immensely.

He said that the Npower scheme of the Federal Government has
employed over 20,000 Kogi youths all across the twenty one local
government area of the State. Governor Bello also noted that the home grown school feeding programme was being implemented in in various schools all
across the State. He also mentioned that the State was benefiting from the different
MSME clinic programmes like the money market loan, Conditional
cash transfer and other entrepreneurship driven programmes of
the Federal Government. The state Governor also pointed out that the completion of the
Warri – Itakpe rail line was a major infrastructural boast which
would affect positively the revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Company
when production commences.

He stated further that the Federal Government through the Ministry
of Works, Power and Housing in partnership with Private
Companies within had also facilitated some Federal road
constructions, which the Confluence similarly benefited.
Governor Bello highlighted the Obajana-Kabba, Ekuku-Idoma-Obe
hira, Adavi Eba-Ikuehi-Obeiba-Obokore, Lokoja-Ganaja roads all in
the State as the proof of such effort being made by the Federal
Government.

Governor Bello used the medium to assure the Vice President that
the Igala region was for the All Progressive Congress (APC),
emphasising that the APC was cruising to victory at the polls.
The Governor expressed that his administration has ensured
fairness and equality in running the affairs of the State and the
confirmation of such were the testaments of the day.
He however charged the people to deliver the region hundred
percent for APC which would give him the confidence to approach
the Federal Government for developmental purposes.
The Governor also pleaded with the people not to allow
intimidation and fear devoid them of expressing their civil right,
assuring that security operatives would be fully on ground to
ensure their safety and security.
